RingConn Smart Ring

 RingConn Gen 2 Air

The nitty gritty

👉Visit their website

The RingConn Gen 2 and Gen 2 Air are "smart rings".   What is a smart ring?  It's a wearable device such as a smart watch (ie Apple Watch or Garmin), but instead of it being a watch, it's a ring.

It does not have any display, you simply wear it on a finger (they say index or middle are the best).

It measures sleep quality.

This is the reason why I purchased my ring.   I didn't want to wear my watch to bed.   I charge it overnight and it serves as my alarm.

Women's Health

It can help you keep track of your cycle.   I cannot comment on this feature as I do not need to track my non-existent cycle.

Activity

It measurers steps, calories burned, minutes of activity, standing hours, activity intensity

Stress Levels

It can monitor your stress levels.  This is not something I watch closely.

Vitals

Such as heart rate, blood Oxygen, HRV (Heart Rate Variability), Respiratory Rate

Charging Cable

Fit

it is recommended to purchase the ring sizing kit.  The Ring does not necessarily fit the same as a standard ring.   I purchased the kit on amazon for a couple bucks.

What are my thoughts?

So far, I'm fairly impressed with battery life.  While the website states 10 days, I usually get 7-8.  I'm very satisfied with this as stated earlier, I have to charge my watch every day.

The app that you download on your smart device is free to use.  Other smart rings have apps that you have to pay a monthly fee.  That's not something I'm a fan of since you pay so much for a piece of technology that you will eventually have to replace.

The ring is waterproof, but I don't like to wear it in the water.  I'll wash my hands with it on, but make sure to dry my hands well.

I mentioned I purchased the Gen 2 Air.   What is the difference between the Gen 2 & the Gen 2 Air?   The Gen 2 will monitor sleep apnea risks.    The Gen 2 Air will not.   The cost of the Gen 2 is greater than the Air.   The colors are different between the two models.  The Gen 2 comes with a charging case while the Air comes with a charging dock.  That almost made me purchase the Gen 2 over the Air, however, with the 7-8 day battery life, I decided the price wasn't worth it.

One thing I didn't like about the difference between the Gen 2 and Gen 2 Air, is that the Gen 2 has a rose gold option.  However, it is more.   The gold, black or silver color is $299USD, the rose gold one is $469USD.   Ummm no thank you.     The colors available in the Air are gold and silver, but different from the Gen 2.

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase.   I would recommend this to anyone who asks.

Slow Drivers

We see it all the time, slow drivers, young, old, adrenaline seekers.

Who does it hurt to pull over if you cannot do the speed limit?

Hear me out.   I live in rural New Brunswick.  The main road speed limit is 80km/h.

Most people out here will do between 80/90.

But you sometimes get the person who will be driving at a limit … their top speed … of 50/60.

That is not okay.  It’s actually dangerous.

Tell me why someone needs to be going that slow.   Actually, it doesn’t matter why they feel the need to be going that slow.  I understand that the 80km/h may be fast for them.  I get it.   They could be a new driver.  They could be out for a “Sunday drive”. They could be someone who’s never been on that road and don’t feel comfortable doing the speed posted.

But it doesn’t explain why they cannot pull over and let the multitude of cars behind them past them. That is what drives me crazy.   There’s no need to keep a line of cars behind you when you cannot do the posted speed limit.

This day and age people are not just leisurely out going for drives. They are on their way home from work or they’re on their way to a certain place. They want to be there at a certain time.

I know you have to allow for time to get places but that time should match with going the speed limit. If my Google maps say it’s going to take me 15 minutes to get somewhere but it actually takes me 25 to 30 because someone did not have the courtesy to pull over as they were going 20 km an hour below the speed limit, I tend to get road rage.

Granted my road rage is not causing accidents. I just yell. I yell at the driver, even though they can’t hear me.  I yell at them, I curse at them, I might wave my hands but chances are they don’t see that.

What are your thoughts on slow drivers?

Review: The Dead Husband Cookbook

The Dead Husband Cookbook The Dead Husband Cookbook by Danielle Valentine
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

To be honest, I was a little disappointed that this book wasn't full of ideas to get yourself a d$@d husband!! HA! Kidding. maybe. ish.

I was not expecting the ending, I will tell you that. At some points, I thought I had it figured out, then I thought I was wrong, then I was kinda right... Nope. well, maybe some parts were predictable.

I did enjoy it, but I wouldn't put in on my would read again shelf. I tend to not rehash the whole book in my reviews. I just share my thoughts. Thanks!

We did a thing

# We did a Thing
We went and got ourselves another puppy.    When I say “We” I mean I wasn’t excited about it.  I wanted a trained dog, an adult. However, what I wanted didn’t matter.  Roxie wanted a best friend. Sigh…

He is awful cute.  !

Our girl Roxie is as beautiful as ever.

So, what did you get for Christmas this year?

Did you get something fun?  Ctafty?  Stylish?  Techy?

Racing!

My friends and I went to the races last weekend (July 2, 2011) at Speedway 660 in Geary, NB.

My husband and I are racing fans, our fav NASCAR driver is #11 Denny Hamlin. (my second favorite is #88 Dale Jr.). We visit the Geary raceway a few times a year, my husband and a couple of his buddies stay up there for Speed Weekend and have done so for the last 5-6 years (maybe even longer), so we are not noobies to racing.

We know how loud it can get.
We know how chilly it gets when the sun goes down.
How buggy it gets when the sun goes down.
~~How LOUD it gets....

So, please excuse me for maybe being a bit too hard on others who do not.

This particular day, (July 2nd) was Fan Appreciation Day, so entry was free. Great, eh?! Well, here is where I got annoyed... Not for the fact that it was free and it was packed, but for the fact that people had their little children there. No big deal...IF you are prepared.

I would *think* that a person would assume that it gets loud. So, why would you bring your little babies there without any ear protection?? And...most importantly... Why on earth would you try to [unsuccessfully] try to settle a wee one who has been traumatized by the noise? I get it that you enjoy racing, I do! What I don't get is that YOU PAID NOTHING for your ticket. You were out nothing but gas $$ for the drive there. Why would you sit there and have the little one bawl their face off like that, just so you can enjoy a free race?

Next time, either stay home, get a sitter or pay the $8 for ear protection.

Let me tell you; I was annoyed, my friends were annoyed, the guy in front of us with his son was annoyed (he overheard us talking about it).

I won't even start on the ones in little shorts & tank tops. Even I was chilly once the sun went down.

Were my children there? No
My son has gone before. He's had ear protection, warm clothing/blankets, and bugspray. But my 5 month old will not be going for a few years. If I can't get a sitter, I won't go.

*deep breath... I feel better now.

Gripe Water

So, I kinda decided to have an F-U Friday section where I post everything that has or is pissing me off this week.

CRYPTIC MESSAGES!!
So, you're on facebook, twitter, myspace, (whatever your fav social media outlet is) and there are people who just seem to think that if they put up cryptic status updates, that the person intended will get the message WRONG!! Who do you really think you are? Do you think the world bends down at your feet to wait for your subliminal messages? LOL wrong again!

For example: saying "Don't you hate sloppy people?" is not as bad as "Don't you hate it when people leave their boots in the middle of your floor when they are visiting?". Obviously, that exact thing happened and you're hoping that the person intended will get it. Chances are.... they WON'T!

Just come right out (preferably at the time of 'the incident') and give it to them straight. "Hey Janet, would you mind giving your boots a little kick over to the door? I wouldn't want you to trip over them". Chances are that Janet won't do it again, eh?

But then again, maybe she will...there are some pretty rude people out there.

TEXTING

While I don't hate texting, there are various instances that texting should not be your priority.

WHILE DRIVING!! Hello?!? Is anyone home? Are you seriously that involved in a conversation that you have to take your hand off the wheel and your eyes off the road because you just HAVE to reply to that text you just got? Do you think that the person on the other end will never contact you again if you don't reply then and there? Well, for one, you are both idiots! If the conversation is that important, either pull the he'll over, or give it to a passenger to recite&type for you.

Do you want to go to jail? Wake up! What if you killed someone? Don't say it won't happen to you...because you don't know. All it takes is one second of your eyes to leave the road and that poor person crossing the street at that moment in time could be taken away from their loved ones forever.

Use your brain and think about it.

That's my gripe for the day.
